Frequently asked questions

Can I try the paid features first?

Yes! Every new family starts with a 14-day Premium trial, no matter which plan you choose. If you choose Family or Premium, we collect billing details during setup, but you're not charged until the trial ends - cancel before then and you pay nothing. Starter stays card-free.

What happens when my trial ends?

When the Premium trial ends, you move to the plan you selected when signing up. If you chose Starter, you'll drop to Starter. If you chose Family or Premium and completed billing setup, you'll continue on that paid plan automatically.

What's the difference between Family and Premium?

Family gives you full coordination tools: medication reminders and dose log, custom events, full scheduling, recurring appointments, expense tracking, care reports, and 1 photo memory per day. Premium adds all AI features - voice logging, Ask AI, receipt scanning, handover summaries, daily summaries, AI care report summaries and the care guide builder. It also adds unlimited caregivers, two-way calendar sync, expense exports, unlimited photo and audio memories, and short video memories.

How do groups work across plans?

Anyone can accept an invitation to a private group, even on the free Starter plan. The Family plan lets you discover and join public groups, and the Premium plan lets you create your own public or private groups.

Is my loved one's data safe?

LumaCare is built with privacy by design. All data is encrypted, stored in EU data centres, and fully GDPR compliant - including Article 9 protections for health data.

Can I change plans later?

Absolutely. Upgrade, downgrade or cancel any time from Subscription in the app. Plan changes apply right away; if you cancel, you keep your plan until the end of the period you've paid for.

Do caregivers need their own account?

Yes, each caregiver signs in with their own login (Google, Apple, etc.). They're invited by the family and only see what their permissions allow.

Does every family member pay separately?

No. The subscription covers the entire care team - parents, helpers and any other caregivers you invite use LumaCare at no extra cost: up to 3 people including you on Starter, 10 on Family and unlimited on Premium.

What counts as a "care recipient"?

A care recipient is any person your family coordinates care for - a child, an elderly parent, or anyone else who needs support. The Starter plan includes one; Family and Premium allow unlimited.
